第七届中国学术英语教学研究年会开始收稿啦 CEAPA-BALEAP 2021 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

2021年5月28日至30日西交利物浦大学语言学院将举办“英国学术英语讲师协会——中国学术英语教学研究会2021年国际会议暨第七届中国学术英语教学研究年会”。


Between 28 and 30 May 2021, the School of Languages of Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University will hold the conference “CEAPA-BALEAP 2021 International Conference”.


本次会议旨在汇集联络全球从事学术英语教育与研究的教师与学者,在西交利物浦大学开展一场关于学术英语方面的知识交流与研究合作。本次会议将以“学术英语作为全球/区域语”为主题,探讨在英语国家开展的传统学术英语如何适用于非英语国家的教学,以及学术英语如何逐渐发展成一门具有多样性并不断发展的全球/本土语言。


The purpose of this conference is to bring together EAP (English for Academic Purposes) teaching professionals from all over the world to engage in knowledge exchange and collaboration at XJTLU. In particular, the conference will seek to address the theme of “EAP as a Glocal Language” and debate to what extent and how EAP provision, which has traditionally occurred in Anglophone settings, needs to adapt to meet the needs of students situated in non-Anglophone contexts, and how EAP has gradually become a diverse and evolving Glocal language.

  • How has EAP pedagogy changed in recent years and how does this affect us?

  • How can the changes in EAP teaching meet the increasing demands of internationalisation, multilingualism, and challenges (e.g. COVID-19) in higher education?

PRESENTATION FORMATS


主题演讲

演讲者就某一特定主题演讲20至25分钟,演讲后有提问和讨论环节。

Presentations (20-25 minutes) on a single topic followed by the opportunity for questions and discussion.


研讨会

时长50分钟,参与者将在引导下进行讨论、反思或应用活动主题。

Workshops (50 minutes) in which a facilitator leads attendees in discussing, reflecting on or applying the theme of the activity.


海报

展示者将通过海报展示研究成果、教学法等,并回答参会者的问题。

Posters which present research results, pedagogical approaches, etc. will be displayed. Time will be allocated for presenters to discuss their posters and answer questions from conference attendees.

蔡基刚,复旦大学外国语言文学学院教授,中国学术英语教学研究会和中国专门用途英语教学研究会会长。蔡教授的研究方向包括对比语言学,应用语言学和学术写作能力。蔡教授在上述领域著作颇丰,在其他领域也颇有建树。

Jigang Cai is a Professor at the Foreign Languages and Literature College, Fudan University. He currently presides over both China ESP Association and China EAP Association. His research interests include contrastive linguistics, applied linguistics and academic literacy. He has published widely on these and other areas.

English for Specific Purposes, Journal of English for Research Publication Purposes, Language, Culture and Curriculum, and Publications现任 Journal of English for Academic Purposes 副主编。

Guangwei Hu is a Professor of Language and Literacy Education in the Department of English, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include academic literacy, language assessment, second language education, biliteracy acquisition, and the psychology of second language learning and use. He has published widely on these and other areas, and serves on the editorial boards of several international journals, including English for Specific Purposes, Journal of English for Research Publication Purposes, Language, Culture and Curriculum, and Publications. Currently, he is Co-Editor of the Journal of English for Academic Purposes.

Sue Starfield is a Professor in the School of Education at UNSW, Sydney. She is an Editor Emeritus of English for Specific Purposes. She co-edited the Handbook of English for Specific Purposes with Brian Paltridge. The second edition of her co-authored book Thesis and Dissertation Writing in a Second Language: A Handbook for Students and their Supervisors (with Brian Paltridge) has just been published (Routledge, 2020). She also co-edits two-book series with Routledge in the field of English for Specific Purposes: Introductions to English for Specific Purposes and Research in English for Specific Purposes.

Teaching for Transfer: EAP and the Disciplines

Steve Kirk,教学型教授,英国杜伦大学学术提升中心学生学术提升部门主管。Kirk教授对学术英语教师的观察及员工发展颇有研究,并于近期提出了关于学术英语的知识实践的观点,因此他在英国学术英语讲师联合协会(BALEAP)以及国际上都享有盛名。目前,他的研究主要侧重于通过社会现实主义的角度研究学术英语,尤其关注合法化语码理Legitimation Code Theory (LCT) (Maton, 2014)。而且Kirk教授的研究方向和兴趣是消除这种徒劳的将理论与实践在学术英语教学中一分为二的行为,他在此领域已投入了大量精力进行专业研究。

Steve Kirk is a teaching-focused Professor and Head of Academic Development for Students at Durham University’s Centre for Academic Development, UK. He is widely known in the BALEAP community and internationally for his work on EAP teacher observation, staff development and, more recently, for a knowledge practices perspective on EAP. His current work looks at EAP through a social realist lens, drawing particularly on Legitimation Code Theory (LCT) (Maton, 2014). Steve has a growing interest in, and professional commitment to, dissolving what he sees as an unproductive dichotomy between ’theory’ and ‘practice’ in the grounded work of EAP practitioners.

  • Proposals for presentations, workshops and posters should not exceed 250 words. When submitting an abstract, please also send a brief bio of up to 100 words.

  • Proposals should be submitted to the conference email address: Glocal2021@xjtlu.edu.cn.

  • Excellent papers will be selected for publication in the International Journal of English for Academic Purposes: Research and Practice.
