Meeting Description会议详情:
Rhythm, or ছন্দ, strings Linguistics, Speech and Music so inextricably that one would be really hard pressed not to take notice of it. It is not altogether a miraculous coincidence that our brain evolved rhythm cognition so centrally to its essential functioning that humans, as a species, seem to be biologically predisposed to rhythm; humans are particularly rhythmic animal. And, although we are far from answering the inexplicably intricate questions to the origin of rhythm cognition and sensitivity in the species' evolutionary history, it has been largely established, in no mean measure, that Rhythm is a multidisciplinary field of intrigue. As such to christen this maiden and modest endeavour by the School of Languages and Linguistics in collaboration with Sir C.V. Raman Centre for Physics and Music as ছন্দ, we wish to humbly acknowledge that we are aware of the challenges that a holistic approach to describe the human condition via the diligent exploratory pursuit of the human sciences, tempered by a scientific outlook, driven by the quest for empirical truths yet balancing our inferences with a judicious amount of rationality, as we endeavour to unravel it's flummoxing enigmas that have bemused and continue to befuddle the most devoted and keenest of minds that have ever ventured or aspired to expound, elucidate or simply decipher it's mind-boggling cryptic riddles, and make contributions to the global capital of knowledge, no matter how small, yet always original, authentic, sincerely genuine and optimistically significant. We have adopted an interdisciplinary approach and elected to peer into the human mind by studying human languages and music and their cognitive aspects that may also result in such an inspiring and intellectually stimulating and revelatory output that might spur innovation in the domain of artificial intelligence and automation for human assistance akin to actual human cognition that would provide potential solutions to problems, practical and theoretical.
